Söderberg Home Block Single Vineyard Pinot Noir

Jan writes:

My husband and I are lucky enough to live on prime pinot noir land. We're surrounded by vineyards and are particularly proud to have the award-winning Söderberg Wines' pinot noir vineyard next door. We enjoy this wine with a variety of dishes including: goat's cheese and mushroom salad, pinot noir poached salmon, saffron paella & chorizo, rare-roasted lamb, wild pork casserole — and cherry pie.

Söderberg Wines is a small family boutique winemaking enterprise. The soul of the wine is the vineyard — at the foot of Marlborough's Wither Hills — only 1.1 hectares, planted in European style that allows only for hand tending the 10-year-old vines. One-hundred-per cent organic methods are used raising the deep-purple, small-bunch grapes.

The Home Block Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is the only wine in the portfolio and is bottled exclusively under the Söderberg Wines label. For each vintage, grapes are sourced from the top clones which, depending on the vintage, produce no more than 115-300 cases of fine wine Each bottle is numbered – as every bottle is special.

Tasting Notes

An elegant and quietly complex pinot noir, rich red berry in colour with leading cherry notes followed by plum. Silky tannins linger pleasantly on
the palate.

A versatile wine with a firm spine. Enjoy either with or without food. A traditional European-style Marlborough pinot noir.
